If you haven’t been to Main Street Antiques, you’ve probably driven by and not realized it. It’s located at 200 North Main Street (no surprise there) next to the Family Dollar Store downtown. Their entrance is deceivingly small but once you walk in, the shop keeps going and going with over 6000 square feet of treasures.
They are an antiques, furniture and consignment shop owned by Monica Bone. You can find her there almost any day of the week. If you have a chance to stop in to meet her, you will find she’s a delight to talk to and a great guide for whatever you may be looking for. The shop reflects her style as she brings local artisans together to create a wide variety of offerings. You can definitely tell this place is her passion.
Furniture
They offer a wide variety of furniture from antiques to modern styles, original finish to painted wood. We recently saw a natural edge table with a beautiful grain and several small crevices filled with blue resin.
I am always drawn to her painted furniture. She uses Wise Owl Paint, which she also sells for the DIYers. Wise Owl Paint has so many great colors to choose from and the paint creates a smooth finish. If you have a piece or two that you’d like painted, she’s your go-to girl. If you’re a DIYer wanna be, she also offers classes to hone your skills.
Jewelry
The store carries local artisan jewelry of all kinds. Leather is big right now and she has some pretty leather stamped earrings. Every piece is handmade and unique. The bead and metal pieces come in all different colors and styles. If you’re looking for something to complete an outfit, you’ll likely find it here.
Books and Pictures and Miscellaneous Things
Book lovers will find a whole corner filled with goodies. If you appreciate old books, you’ll find some unique choices here. Throughout the store, the walls are filled with pictures of local scenery, inspiring quotes, and cute animals. There is no shortage of things to decorate your home with and treasures abound.
The Flood
The shop was recently renovated after a flood and the updates are gorgeous. When you walk in you’ll see a whole wall of steel signs and pictures. My husband and I own a vintage Airstream camper and I found a cute camper cutout with a heart. Had to have it! If you haven’t been in for a while, stop by to check out the changes.
